We are finalists of the DCS awards 2022!

May 16th, 2022Operations Team

We are up for Colocation provider of the year at the DCS awards 2022.

2021 has been a year of unprecedented demands for Custodian and for our customers. Despite dealing with the challenges from the pandemic, we have worked tirelessly to support the ever-changing needs of our customer base, while maintaining an outstanding record for continuity and 99.9% uptime. And as a result of this, we are thrilled to announce we have been shortlisted for ‘Data Centre Hosting/co-location Supplier of the Year’ at the 2022 DCS Awards.

The awards recognise and celebrate innovation across the data centre industry and cover both the facilities and IT aspects of the sector, so to be a part of such an established award is a complete privilege.

At Custodian, we work with an array of customers across key verticals including Managed Service Providers, Gaming and Streaming Services, Cloud, Public Sector and Enterprise businesses to support them with agile, mission-critical infrastructure and diverse low-latency connectivity via our own dark fibre network and we have supported all of these different sectors through the Covid19 pandemic.

We are incredibly proud of our engineering team as throughout the pandemic they utilised industry-leading technologies and combined it with dynamic customer service to intercept and mitigate all potential failures, from power outages to network interruptions. This service-driven ethos has been critical to our success, ensuring resilience and efficiency were prioritised. At the beginning of 2022, due to significant demand across all key customer demographics, we were able to announce the launch of our second data centre with a 10MW capacity, DA2. In fact, 2021 saw record customer utilisation rates for our flagship Maidstone data centre and was pivotal in the development of the second site, which is soon to open in Dartford.

The pandemic resulted in a massive influx of remote working, where businesses required new levels of support as low latency connectivity, access to mission-critical applications and flexible infrastructure became a fundamental business priority. We take great pride in the fact we provided a safe and reliable service to all customers throughout an incredibly difficult time, ensuring continuity was at the heart of our operations.

This time was particularly demanding for our MSP customers, as demand for infrastructure, IT equipment and digital services surged almost overnight and many MSPs were simply expected to accommodate the increased workloads. During this difficult period, we ensured that all power, cooling, connectivity, and secure physical infrastructure, ran smoothly with industry-leading levels of uptime, to support this rapid increase in service demand.

We’ve also been able to increase rack footprints, power requirements and IP transit usage, all within an incredibly quick and responsive turn-around time of 24 hours, adhering to our service SLA’s.

Further, to keep up with growing customer demands, we increased the use of remote hands within our in-house NOC team, ensuring customers could gain the engineering and service support they needed remotely. This approach was essential, as data centre professionals were named key workers and access to the site became limited to key personnel only. It also not only meant that our customers could stay safe but would ensure that our infrastructure and business-critical applications remained online, connected, and safe in the hands of our expert engineering team.

Throughout this time, we solely focused on our customers, going above and beyond to support their requirements and provided mission-critical solutions to keep our businesses operational.

We are proud to have been able to provide a high level of service to all our customers during such a tremendously stressful and unprecedented time and are incredibly thankful for our staff and customers for supporting us and allowing us to be a finalist for such a prestigious award. We are up against other great finalists and it’s going to be a tight winner!
