We are just months away from the next instalment of Talking Tech: a unique tech event hosted in Kent that Information Age have recently partnered with Custodian Data Centres on.
In a plethora of tech and IT events, this event really stands out. The organisers have placed a huge emphasis on keeping sales-hungry folk and anyone who doesn’t fit the bill of senior IT or tech professional out. For years, its audience found itself being sold the latest software, gadget or usual jargon by large vendors and organisations, with little or no palatable knowledge to apply to its own set ups.
The event also takes place in a truly unique setting: the Maidstone TV Studios. Rich with history, home to classic TV shows like Later… with Jools Holland and the bedrock of one of the South East’s award-winning data centres: it’s hard to compete with, as IT event venues go!
Since its launch in October 2017, three events have taken place with the community of professionals building into the hundreds. The audience comes from all over the South East, from varying high-level technical roles and industries far and wide of what you might imagine.
What’s on the agenda?
At each event the audience are encouraged to vote interactively on what topics they would like to hear about at the next event. The last event threw up a wide mixture of topical interests, with Security, AI and Containerisation coming out on top. With this in mind, the organisers set off finding two main speakers, one for each topic, and panel members to cover two separates 40-minute Q&A panels on each topic.
Here’s how the agenda looks:
8:15am | Breakfast & Registration
8:50am |Introduction by Simon Wood, Associate Director at Holiday Extras and Talking Tech Host
9.00am |Security & AI – The Rise of the Machines, why we have nothing/everything to fear… by Etienne Greeff, CTO of Secure Data Europe
9:30am |Security & AI panel featuring BT and Reflect Digital
10.10am |Break & Refreshments
10.30am |Containerisation – Managing your Microservices… bringing order to the chaos by Luke Whiting of Brandwatch
11:00am |Containerisation panel featuring Codification and Advanced
11.40am |Conclusions by our Host & Networking
Does the event cost?
The event is free. However, it is exclusive to senior IT and tech professionals, meaning places are limited. Around 70% of places are already booked, with many recurring attendees with such a focus on building a tech community in the South East with Talking Tech seen as the real meeting-point for peers twice a year to share experiences and issues, applying new knowledge and techniques to their own organisations. A free breakfast is also put on in the TV studios with refreshments available to take back to your table throughout the event.
When is it and where can I sign up?
The event will be held between 8.15am and 12.00pm on Thursday April 25th 2018 at the Maidstone TV Studios in Kent. You can reserve your place right now at here. This event is exclusive to senior IT professionals only and will remain so moving forward. This event is completely sales-free and we have total discretion on who attends. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
