Tech’s Got Talent: New speaker announced for Talking Tech

By Drew Morley
Talent speaker

Tech’s Got Talent: An issue that arose from our first event was that of ‘finding talent’ and ‘staffing in Kent’. How am I supposed to attract London talent? What kind of culture do we need to install for the young employee of today?  These were the kind of questions bouncing around the room, so we simply had to make ‘talent’ a topic at our next event.

Talent Speaker

Speaking on talent will be Simon Wood. Simon is Associate Director of Technology at Holiday Extras, one of Kent’s largest tech companies. His day-to-day role sees him driving the technology strategy and leading an ever-growing engineering team, with more than 100 people now.

He has first-hand experience of hiring and retaining great tech talent. He agrees – it is hard. When businesses are looking to grow their tech teams it can feel like an impossible mission. Simon will talk about his experience in growing a great tech team at Holiday Extras, sharing examples of hiring the best graduates to first hand experiences with nearshoring. He will also cover ideas on how to engage and retain your existing talent and grow them into your future stars.

Next event

The next instalment of Talking Tech takes place on April 26th at the Maidstone Studios. More details will be released in the New Year, but registration is open now. More information on how to register can be found here: https://www.custodiandc.com/events
