NEWS: Custodian Data Centres is proud to support Fosshost and the open source community
UK-based Custodian Data Centres supports Fosshost, a non-profit hosting provider that offers free hosting services to the open source community. Many open source projects benefit from Fosshost’s hosting services which help to support, promote, and advance the development and movement of free software.
“When we were approached by Fosshost we were excited to hear about the wide range of open source projects they support and provide hosting for. We were pleased to offer colocation space within our multi award winning Kent data centre to support their ambitious mission; to empower and support every free and open source software project, to go further, together. We are proud to be part of their journey”. Amy Young, Sales Director, Custodian Data Centres.
Fosshost is currently supporting more than eighty open source projects. Their most recent includes support and hosting for the Free Software Foundation Europe’s open source REUSE API platform, which has helped to support the COVID-19 open source track and trace app in Germany and support for Modern Linux Distributions including Garuda Linux, based in India.
Fosshost has recently partnered with Ampere Computing and will be using Custodian’s colocation space to house their ARMv8 64-bit eMAG hardware which will enable them to provide arm64-as-a-service to the open source community. Fosshost will be the first UK provider of ARM64 hosting services. This hardware will be provisioned for virtualisation purposes, providing faster builds, improved testing, and cross deployments.
Thomas Markey, Chief Executive and Founder of Fosshost said, “Working with Custodian Data Centres has been an absolute pleasure. We are particularly impressed with their green credentials and assistance to the open source community. Many open source projects will now experience significant growth and potential as a result of our partnership.”
